Specialization in Adaptive Methods
Disabled veterans may take a free swim lesson in November with adult learn-to-swim instructor and coach Jeff Waddle at Arlington Park.
The one-on-one sessions through Waddle’s Adult Swim Academy are tailored to veterans with physical disabilities. Waddle is certified through U.S. Masters Swimming as an adult learn-to-swim instructor with specialization in adaptive methods. He is one of roughly 100 instructors nationwide to hold the adaptive distinction.
Instruction will follow the U.S. Masters Swimming adult learn-to-swim curriculum, which focuses on helping the student be safer in the water and teaching the student to swim, at a minimum, one length of the 25-yard pool. This is the first time the USMS adaptive curriculum will be taught in Sarasota.
“Helping a vet to learn to swim for the first time, or learn to swim in a new way, if necessary, because of injury or disability, is something I am lucky to have the skills to do,” Waddle said. “It’s an honor to be able to give back to our veterans in this way.”
Classes will be scheduled at mutually convenient times. Interested veterans should contact Waddle at 843-422-6766. Can be directly scheduled at https://LearnToSwim.as.me/?appointmentType=11867911
